None-the-less, as it stands now the system is quite enjoyable. That was while I was visiting Austin, but obviously chose to live here instead.Īs far as my own system goes, I have made tremendous progress, but still have a long way to go. Right now, they are out of budget range, but, perhaps in a year or two.Īre you thinking of changing drivers for your horns Along the lines of the OP, the best I have ever heard was a Lowther Dx-3 in an ORIS 250. I certainly do not suggest that Ive even heard 25 of the drivers out there much less all of them. Accuton company website.Īccuton loudspeaker drivers and speaker parts can be purchased at Madisound.Of course you have to cross the C173-6-090 over low to circumvent the distortion peak and to minimise beaming, but I cant imagine this being too much of a problem. Since those early days, Accuton has experienced a continuous growth and expansion. He bought the assets of the old Thiel GmbH and put together the production and distribution channels and the new Thiel & Partner GmbH of today was born. This partner was found in Adrian Bankewitz, at this time European distributor of Accuton products and long time friend of Bernhard Thiel. So Bernhard Thiel started looking for a partner to take care of the economical side of business. This – of course – presented some major problems for the young Thiel GmbH. Backes & Müller, still being the main customer for Bernhard Thiel, went out of the amoxicillin business in the year 1992. Very soon, these drivers were used in many of the – top of the line – high-end loudspeaker boxes of today’s world. His loudspeaker units – only tweeters and midranges at this time – were distributed quickly in the audiophile world and gained a very high reputation for their sonic virtues. At first, these ceramic drivers were produced exclusively for new Backes & Müller products, but a few years later Bernhard Thiel stepped out of B&M and founded his own company, the original Thiel GmbH in Homburg, Germany. This new and very hard material facilitates loudspeaker drivers with broader bandwidth, lower distortion and a purer sound than ever before possible. This patented procedure allowed the manufacturing of very stiff, light weighted and highly damped loudspeaker calottes. In 1984, the Backes & Müller production-engineer, Bernhard Thiel invented a process to produce very thin sheets of extremely hard corundum (Al 2O 3), also known as sapphire. Accuton loudspeaker drivers are manufactured by Thiel and Partner GmbH.
